The Cheoncheon-dong Public Library, located within the Ilwol Park in Suwon's Jangan-gu district, features a minimalist design with a three-story structure, symbolizing a white object next to the Ilwol reservoir. The exterior of the building is characterized by a simple and energy-efficient design using white concretes, double-layered low-e glass, aluminum vertical louvers, and aluminum insulation bars as the main materials. In the central part of the building, there's a Community Stage connecting the underground first floor directly to Ilwol Park and the ground floor. The underground first floor space includes a multipurpose hall, lecture rooms, and seminar rooms, making it suitable for use as a community center for local residents. The central Community Stage is an atrium space connected from the underground first floor to the second floor, providing a user-centric library and relaxation space where users can read and socialize under the skylight falling through the central ceiling. Utilizing the natural ambiance of Ilwol Park surrounding the site, the outdoor deck on the first floor was planned to interconnect indoor administrative support facilities like offices, libraries, and management rooms, as well as an adjacent children's library, creating a library that embodies the harmony of indoor and outdoor spaces.
