ClientBucheon University

Year2012 - 2018

LocationBucheon, Korea

Scale Site Area: 186,646㎡
G.F.A.: 114,366㎡

The second campus of Bucheon University is planned in the southern part of Bucheon city with a total of six educational buildings and support facilities. The scale is planned to be a maximum of 8 floors above ground (maximum height of 30m) and a maximum of 6 floors underground, utilizing steel and reinforced concrete structure. The exterior finish consists of double-layered glass, stone finish, aluminum louvers, and zinc panels. The main task of this project was to achieve an organic integration of internal and external spaces of the building, activate the horizontal aspects, and enhance mobility on the sloped site. As a result, the ground levels of the six buildings were planned to be consistent at the highest level to maximize horizontal convenience. Support and convenience facilities were placed between the lowest levels to harmonize with the existing environment as much as possible. The building's form was kept as simple as possible, introducing variations in massing, and unifying the front facade pattern across the six buildings. Additionally, when applying the front facade pattern, efforts were made to maximize natural lighting and simplify to enhance the academic environment for students inside.
