This project, in line with South Korea's regional balanced development policy, was undertaken by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (KICC) as part of the government's strategy to relocate public institutions to regional areas. The goal was to improve the working environment for KICC employees by relocating their headquarters to the Daegu Innovation City and planning accommodation facilities for staff. The new KICC headquarters is strategically located in the heart of the Daegu Innovation City, designed as an iconic tower. The building consists of a high-rise tower housing office facilities and a low-rise building suitable for conventions and other activities. To create a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces, the lower part of the KICC headquarters integrates with nearby green areas, lakes, and parks. The design allows users to move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces. Additionally, the lower building, which includes the lobby and various programs, is designed with canopies to facilitate easy movement between the two spaces, effectively connecting them as a semi-outdoor area for user convenience.
