The Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Office, established in 1983, embarked on a project to address the increasing maintenance costs due to aging facilities and a shortage of office space. This project involved the construction of an annex building and the remodeling of the main building. The existing provincial hall was demolished, and a total investment of 56.6 billion won was made to construct a facility with three underground floors and five above-ground floors. Key facilities include offices, a 700-seat auditorium, a 500-seat restaurant, multipurpose evacuation facilities, welfare facilities, and more. In consideration of its status as a public office and the urban spatial order, the building is confidently designed in a natural and dignified square mass form. Particularly, a central courtyard was adopted, taking into account daylighting, ventilation, and views, allowing for the integration of relaxation and cultural spaces.
