According to the comprehensive sewage pipeline improvement plan being pursued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the purpose of this project is to upgrade aging and deteriorating sewage pipelines in a total of 239 drainage basins. Specifically, the Doryim 1 drainage basin in Dongjak-gu and the Daerim 1, 2, 3-dong areas in Yeongdeungpo-gu are located in the downstream low-lying areas where the Doryimcheon and Daerimcheon rivers converge. In these areas, most of the sewage pipelines have been in place for more than 25 years, raising concerns about groundwater and soil contamination due to aging and defects. Additionally, the efficiency of treatment at the sewage treatment plants has been compromised due to the inflow of unknown water sources, and property damage has occurred due to flooding.
