An environmental impact assessment was conducted for the construction project of the Hamyang to Changnyeong section as part of the high-speed highway project connecting Hamyang to Ulsan, aimed at enhancing connectivity between the western and eastern regions of Gyeongnam Province.
This project aims to complement the nationwide arterial road network plan (North-South 7 axes, East-West 9 axes) by constructing a high-speed highway to bridge the gap between the East-West 8th and 9th axes, which have a wider spacing of about 70km compared to the average spacing of 30-40km for the East-West arterial network. The goal is to promote regional exchanges between the eastern part of the Yeongnam region and the southwestern part of Gyeongnam Province and facilitate the development of tourism and industrial resources in the underdeveloped areas of Gyeongnam Province.
