To prepare for sudden, intense rainfall caused by frequent weather anomalies, a comprehensive review of the capacity of existing flood control facilities within the watershed is conducted. This involves assessing local conditions, current drainage infrastructure, and hydraulic studies to determine the capacity required to handle 100mm/hr rainfall intensity. Various flood prevention methods such as pump capacity selection, watershed separation or modification, and installation of detention basins are considered. Through basic and detailed design of efficient and economical flood control facilities, the aim is to enhance Seoul's drainage capacity to withstand 100mm/hr rainfall, thus preventing flooding in low-lying areas and ensuring the protection of citizens' lives and property.
