In response to the increasing disaster damage caused by recent abnormal weather patterns, particularly heavy rainfall events such as the one on August 8, 2022, where hourly rainfall exceeded 100mm and daily rainfall exceeded 300mm, there is a need to develop and implement comprehensive drainage improvement measures for the areas surrounding the Doryumcheon River. These measures will be coordinated with the ongoing deep-level rainwater drainage tunnel project. The deep-level rainwater drainage tunnel project is crucial for effectively managing rainfall in the area and preventing flooding. Given the significant flood damage experienced in the Doryumcheon area, this project will play a vital role in minimizing flood-related risks and ensuring the safety of the local residents.
Furthermore, these comprehensive drainage improvement measures aim to harmonize rainwater management and flood control. They are expected to enhance the safety of the local population and contribute to disaster preparedness in the face of abnormal weather events caused by climate change.
