In response to the frequent occurrence of sudden and concentrated heavy rainfall events due to recent weather anomalies, a comprehensive assessment of the facility capacity of existing flood control facilities within the watershed is being conducted. This involves calculating the facility capacity based on local conditions, channel status, and hydraulic and hydrological investigations, aligning with a 30-year rainfall frequency. Various flood control methods, such as pump station expansion, watershed separation and modification, and the installation of additional retention basins, are being considered. Through the development of fundamental and detailed designs for efficient and cost-effective flood control facilities, the goal is to enhance Seoul's capacity to withstand 30-year rainfall intensities, thereby preventing lowland flooding and ensuring the protection of citizens' lives and valuable properties.
