The 00 National Intelligence Service (NIS), a key national defense agency directly reporting to the President of the Republic of Korea, has been operational since the early days of the democratic political system. As modern information-related tasks expanded to support decision-making across various domains, the client needed to consolidate existing facilities and operational areas into a new headquarters building, necessitating a large-scale expansion of space.
Due to the unique characteristics of the National Intelligence Service, the most critical aspect of the design was the establishment of appropriate concepts for security and integration between various areas. Given the site conditions, achieving the highest level of security requirements and implementing a robust defense system for the building was a primary goal. The design team and agency officials engaged in multiple design meetings, and through extensive collaboration, they successfully created an organically structured work environment that not only met top-level security requirements but also provided a safe and secure working environment. Furthermore, the entire building was equipped with state-of-the-art information and communication systems, considering the specific nature of the National Intelligence Service's information-related tasks.
