An environmental impact assessment was conducted for the national road project under the "Highway Construction 5-Year Plan (2016-2020), 2017, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport." This project involves the construction of a new highway with four lanes in each direction, starting from Jungwon-dong, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, and ending in Sinheung-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City, with a total length of 19.8 kilometers. It is the only remaining unconstructed section among the 12 sections (four sections open, seven sections under construction) of the Greater Seoul Ring Expressway, which has a total length of approximately 252.6 kilometers.
